M&R Global head Tom Pickthorn has been appointed chair of SCG Legal, one of the world's leading networks of independent law firms.
Tom took up the role on 18 September 2026, and will lead SCG Legal’s board and help to shape the strategic direction of a network that brings together leading independent law firms across more than 60 countries.
Tom has been an active member of SCG Legal for 25 years and has played a significant role in strengthening collaboration and business development opportunities across the network.
His appointment reflects both his longstanding contribution to SCG Legal and our growing international profile. Tom currently leads our international practice, M&R Global, leading a team working with a carefully selected network of overseas law firms to support clients on cross-border opportunities and challenges. Last year, M&R Global supported clients in more than 75 countries.

As head of M&R Global, Tom, who is a corporate partner, advises on mergers and acquisitions, equity investments, capital markets transactions and restructurings. He has more than 30 years' experience advising businesses on complex domestic and cross-border matters.
