The Mills & Reeve corporate team has advised global RegTech business AML Analytics on a significant growth investment from Covalent Equity Partners, a private equity firm focused on technology businesses in the AI era.
Founded in 2010, AML Analytics is a market leader in independent testing, validation and risk analytics for anti-money laundering and financial crime controls. Its technology is used by more than 50 supervisory authorities and over 1,450 financial institutions across nearly 60 countries.
The investment and operational partnership with Covalent Equity Partners will support AML Analytics’ next phase of growth, including accelerating its engineering roadmap, introducing next-generation testing engines and expanding its global footprint. Justin Holder will continue to lead the business as founder and group CEO alongside the existing leadership team.
Justin Holder, founder and group CEO of AML Analytics, said:
“Outstanding lawyers are one thing; an outstanding team is another. Thilo and the corporate team at Mills & Reeve delivered both. Every member of the deal team combined exceptional technical ability with sound commercial judgement and real responsiveness.
“The service felt completely seamless from start to finish: no hand-offs, no gaps, no surprises. They navigated a highly complex investment process with confidence and pragmatism and helped us achieve an excellent outcome.”
It was a privilege to support Justin and the AML Analytics team on this important investment. They are an excellent client and have built an impressive international business that plays an increasingly important role in helping financial institutions and regulators test and strengthen their defences against financial crime. We thoroughly enjoyed working with the team on this complex transaction.
Covalent’s investment provides an exciting platform for the next stage of AML Analytics’ growth and innovation. We’re pleased to have helped the team achieve this outcome and look forward to seeing the business continue to expand internationally.
FT Partners acted as financial adviser and Mills & Reeve as legal counsel to AML Analytics. McGuireWoods acted as legal counsel and Code & Co as technology and AI adviser to Covalent Equity Partners.
