Her work includes complex trust restructuring, succession planning, business structuring to secure inheritance tax and capital gains tax reliefs, conditional exemption claims and land pooling arrangements. Lauren regularly collaborates with colleagues to advise on strategic land development and patient capital investment.
Supporting your ambitions
Lauren advised the trustees of a UK family settlement on the purchase of property with a value exceeding £10 million from the family's offshore settlement. This extracted cash from the offshore settlement at an effective tax rate of less than 10% as opposed to 32%. The family can now invest the cash in developing property on the estate.
Another highlight for Lauren was securing a £2.2 million inheritance tax saving on the deceased's partnership interest. Lauren succeeded in persuading HMRC that the business (a caravan park) qualified for 100% business property relief. This was a great outcome for the client.
