What can I do for you

Seb is a life sciences and intellectual property lawyer with experience advising clients across the full spectrum of universities, early-stage therapeutics ventures, biotechnology and global pharmaceutical companies. Seb specialises in helping innovative companies and institutions protect and commercialise their ideas through strategic licensing deals, collaborations, asset purchases and partnerships. He also provides IP and commercial support in life sciences-specific M&A transactions.

As a key member of Mills & Reeve’s dedicated life sciences team, he mainly supports clients across the pharmaceuticals and biotech, tech bio and research tool / diagnostics sub-sectors.

Seb’s experience includes:

  • Advising the University of Cambridge on a suite of interlinked agreements for the IonQ Quantum Innovation Centre, to acquire the UK’s most powerful quantum computer and establish an associated 10‑year research programme.
  • Tessellate Bio’s first pharma collaboration licensing deal with Boehringer Ingelheim to develop treatments targeting tumours dependent on alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT), an overall deal value of over €500million.
  • Ennogen Healthcare Ltd, a pharmaceutical company, on its drug asset and marketing authorisation acquisition of Axsain and Zacin from Teva UK.
  • Illumina on its collaboration with multiple pharmaceutical companies and UK Biobank for a new proteomics assay pilot project.
  • FibroFind, a preclinical drug development CRO, focussed on inflammation, fibrosis and metabolic disease on its acquisition by private equity firm Vespa Capital.
  • Advising on behalf of a University TTO a licensing deal for a monoclonal antibody and its corresponding hybridoma.
  • Advising Amano Enzyme, on its license, development and commercialization agreement of a novel enzyme for degradation of PET plastic.
  • ATL Technology on its acquisition of Gyrus Medical LTD. Manufacturing Operations;* and
  • Mission Zero Technologies, on its £21.8 million Series A funding.*
