Charitable giving

Our staff are a determined bunch of fundraisers, choosing a dedicated national charity every year and supporting local charities in each individual office.

This year we are supporting Dogs For Good, the charity making life changing differences for people with disabilities.

More about Dogs for Good

Established in 1988, Dogs for Good provides three services:

  • Assistance Dog – training assistance dogs to support adults and children with physical disabilities and children with autism
  • Family Dog – providing advice and support to people on how their dog can benefit their whole family

  • Community Dog – training activity and therapy dogs and their specialist handlers to work in communities and schools

The charity train dogs to help adults and children lead more independent lives, both at home and in the community.

Charity Challenge 2017

One of the highlights of our fundraising year was our Ullswater Orienteering Challenge in June when over 90 Mills & Reeve staff embarked on our annual challenge. The teams faced tests of both mind and body as they canoed across Ullswater, the second largest lake in the Lake District, and then hiked the slopes of Place Fell.

Dogs for Good volunteer Lynn Matthews and her assistance dog Christa presented the winning team with their trophies and gave a demonstration of how Christa enables Lynn to live more independently by helping her to remove her jacket, shoes and socks.

The Charity Challenge Committee have been overwhelmed by the dedication of the Dogs for Good volunteers who have proven to be fantastic advocates for the Assistance Dog Programme and the innovative work that the charity undertakes.

We are supporting IntoUniversity, an innovative programme that supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to gain a university place or similar aspiration.  Volunteers from the firm work with young people developing their commercial awareness and career choices and give support in all things such as interview techniques or time-management.

Local community support

Each of our offices also chooses a charity to work with, ensuring that local community projects are supported by our team.

Sifa Fireside works with some of the most vulnerable adults in Birmingham offering support and practical help including on average nearly 3,500 meals each month.

St George’s Crypt in the City of Leeds work with the homeless, the vulnerable and those suffering with addiction.  The charity work with individuals to find accommodation, gain skills and the confidence to take an active role in their future.

Barnabus is a Homeless Charity providing a lifeline to the homeless in Manchester for over 25 years which provides practical help and support and opportunities for accommodation, rehabilitation, healthcare, training and employment opportunities. It offers a range of creative and inspiring activities, volunteering and mentoring to help build confidence and skills.

The Priscilla Bacon Centre is a palliative Care Centre that supports patients and families in and around Norwich.

Toynbee Hall is based in the East End of London and works on the frontline against poverty.  Over the next two years the charity will be involved in a significant regeneration project.

We have supported a wide range of charities over the years including Bloodwise, (formerly Leukemia and Lymphoma Research, Macmillan Cancer Support  and UK Community Foundations.

Charitable Trust

Each year we donate thousands of pounds to good causes primarily focused on charities and community groups for local people who are disadvantaged in some way.
