6 July 2023 Insight CMA clears Amazon’s acquisition of iRobot – what’s the Big (Tech) deal? On 16 June 2023, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced its decision to clear Amazon’s proposed acquisition of iRobot, a technology company that designs and builds consumer robots, including the Roomba-branded robotic vacuum cleaners (RVCs). After an initial investigation, the CMA has decided that the merger would not harm competition in the UK (although, as discussed below, it remains subject to review in other jurisdictions).
