Michael was instructed as coverage and advisory counsel following four claims (which exceeded the limit of indemnity of £10m) arising from the supply of defective green sand moulding production lines in France and the state of Alabama.
With proceedings issued in both France and the US, Michael had to assist and manage the local counsel in the defence of the claims as well as the concerns of the insured, which was facing potential insolvency.
The claims were settled through various mediations at a figure below the limit of indemnity, the news of which was greatly received by insurers and insured.
