Innovation for us is not just about big ideas and eureka moments. It’s about any new ideas – however small – which help solve our clients' problems more effectively. We regularly run formal and informal innovation initiatives and everyone is actively encouraged to spot opportunities for improvement on an ongoing basis.

Our culture of innovation and co-creation has been recognised in the Financial Times’ most innovative law firms in Europe report for the past two years, where we‘ve been ranked 33rd in both 2022 and 2023.

Process

Our team of legal process experts provide innovation as a service by helping our clients and lawyers to optimise their workflows, reduce risks, and increase efficiency. They use tools such as process mapping, lean methodology, and project management to transform the way we deliver legal services. They engage and empathise with our clients to better understand their exact needs, so they can tailor bespoke solutions for the client.

Legal technology

Our dedicated team of legal technologists, data analysts, and project managers work with our clients and lawyers to deliver innovative solutions leveraging technology, such as low-code app development, automation, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.

People

Our technology consultancy team help to involve our people and clients in our innovation journey. They raise awareness of the effective and efficient ways of delivering legal solutions through the application of legal process design and legal technology.
Our innovative people

Mills & Reeve has dedicated innovation focus groups made up of over 40 innovation champions, who act as ambassadors for innovation in their service lines across the firm. They help to raise awareness, generate ideas, test solutions and share best practice within their teams. They also organise events such as hackathons, workshops, and webinars to foster a culture of innovation.
Innovation co-creation

Mills & Reeve has a strong history of co-creation in innovation. In 2018, our first ever internal legal hackathon resulted in several groups of our people uniting to enhance the client experience. The winning solution has since evolved into our multi award-winning client management platform, Volume Control.
