In-house in Focus: Avoiding contract disputes

Contract disputes are rarely caused by a single event. More often they arise from uncertainty in drafting, gaps in performance monitoring, or issues that are not addressed early enough. Many escalate into formal disputes when they could have been avoided with the right steps at the outset.

This practical webinar is aimed at in-house counsel and commercial teams who want to reduce dispute risk and manage issues more effectively when they arise. We will focus on what you can do in real time, not in hindsight. In this session, we will cover:

  • How to identify and manage dispute risk at the contract drafting and negotiation stage, including due diligence and clearer allocation of obligations
  • Practical steps to manage contracts and spot early warning signs during performance
  • What to do when an issue arises, including preserving your position, complying with notice provisions and avoiding common pitfalls
  • The key “do’s and don’ts” in the early stages of a dispute, including termination, privilege and pre-action considerations
  • When to pursue commercial resolution, including ADR and early settlement, instead of formal proceedings

This will be a practical session designed to help you take control of disputes before they escalate, and to put your organisation in the strongest position if they do.
