Teenage cancer patient obtains High Court ruling preventing estranged mother from learning of cancer diagnosis

We have limited information on the reasoning behind Mr Justice Hayden’s decision but press reports indicate that the “ban on informing the mother of her child’s medical condition and treatment should continue, despite the child’s father having been informed’.

It is not clear how old the teenager is but they have been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. According to press reports, the judge commented: “He needs to concentrate on this treatment, 100% focus.”

We understand that the application was brought by the Local Authority.

We await the judgment and will provide further details if/when one is reported.
