New Patient Safety Commissioner website launched

England’s Patient Safety Commissioner (PSC), Dr Henrietta Hughes has launched a new website for all stakeholders interested in promoting patient safety and making sure that patients’ voices are heard.

Dr Hughes was appointed as the first ever PSC in July 2022; she adds to and enhances the existing work to improve the safety of medicines and medical devices and follows the recommendations from Baroness Cumberlege’s review into patient safety published in 2020. You can read our earlier blogs here and here.

Baroness Cumberlege described the PSC as the “golden thread tying the system together” and Dr Hughes’ work to bring about culture change, putting the patient’s voice at the core of care and decision-making.

The new website is a welcome resource for patients and the wider health and care system. You can view the website here.
