Mills & Reeve advise Cornwall Care on acquisition by Sanctuary

In a transaction which secures high quality care for many care home residents across the south west of England, Mills & Reeve has advised health and care client Cornwall Care on its acquisition by Sanctuary.

Sanctuary is one of the largest not-for-profit housing associations in England and Scotland and the second largest not-for-profit care provider through its ‘Sanctuary Care’ business.

Cornwall Care, a registered charity, is the largest provider of care in Cornwall with 16 homes with more than 645 beds and services which help more than 1,000 people.

Cornwall Council said: "Our key aspiration throughout this process has been to further secure Cornwall’s care market, ensuring that people are able to stay in their homes, as well as allowing more investment and improvement at these sites. We look forward to the development of these plans."

Julian Smith, head of independent sector health, led the transaction for Mills & Reeve along with head of charities, Neil Burton, and principal associate, Paul Krivosic.

Julian commented: "We were delighted to help make this deal happen. A huge number of talented and committed people across teams from Cornwall, the Midlands and beyond have helped to secure the future of a provider which cares for over 1,000 residents and we wish them all the best."
