We have advised Bupa on the sale to Celesio UK.

Bupa has agreed the sale of its Bupa Home Healthcare service to Celesio, a leading healthcare services company.

Bupa Home Healthcare is a leading provider of high quality home healthcare services supporting over 35,000 patients across the UK. The organisation works in partnership with the NHS, pharmaceutical industry and private medical insurers to support patients with a range of conditions. Over recent years the business has grown substantially and provides clinical care for a number of conditions including those that require speciality medicines such as Intestinal Failure, Lysosomal Storage Disorder, Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. The company has a national nursing team, its own aseptic manufacturing facilities and around 1,000 employees across the UK.

Celesio UK comprises LloydsPharmacy, AAH Pharmaceuticals, Evolution Homecare, LloydsPharmacy Online Doctor and Betterlife.

Our team was led by independent sector health & care lead partner Julian Smith, principal associate Junaid Haroon and associate Hayley Simonds in the corporate team, who were supported by tax partner Kevin Lowe and commercial principal associate Ruth Andrew.

Julian Smith commented, “We were delighted to assist an important healthcare client such as Bupa with a transaction of this nature.”

The deal completed on 1 July following clearance by the CMA.
