Mills & Reeve gets its paws dirty on international deal

Agrolimen is a Spanish family-owned group specialising in consumer goods, with leading brands in the food and pet food industries as well as in quick service restaurants. Established over 75 years ago, it is now one of the main European groups in these business areas. Agrolimen is present in over 75 countries. Its subsidiaries include GB Foods (food), Affinity Petcare (pet food), Nature's Variety (pet food), The Eat Out Group (quick service restaurants, with brands like Pans & Company, FrescCo, and Dehesa Santa María), and Consorcio de Jabugo (food). 

Natures Menu, founded in 1981 and headquartered in Norfolk is Europe's largest manufacturer of raw pet food. 

The firm provided legal advice to Agrolimen which including advising on the overall structuring of the transaction, conducting detailed due diligence on Natures Menu and the drafting and negotiation of all the transactional documents. 

The team was led by corporate partner Anthony McGurk who said: “This deal represents another successful transaction for us in the food and beverage industry this year, having acted for Greene King on the sale of a portfolio of 16 pubs to Heineken's UK Star Pubs & Bars business, Marstons and Hall & Woodhouse and advising the management team of The Weetabix Food Company on a significant investment by Baring Private Equity, a Hong Kong based private equity fund.”
