Mills & Reeve is a gold standard employer

We have been named 60th in The Sunday Times’ Best 100 Companies to Work For list, appearing for the 14th year running.

Mills & Reeve is one of only nine law firms on the mid-size list, and the only law firm to gain a place on the prestigious list for 14 consecutive years in the annual survey, which is the most comprehensive analysis of workplace engagement, opinion and satisfaction in the UK.

The survey found that 81 per cent of our employees have confidence in the skills of senior leaders, and the same number believe the business is run on strong principles. We also focus on our social responsibilities, with 86 per cent of staff saying support of good causes in encouraged. A charitable trust, funded by donations from partners, distributes almost £90,000 to help those “on the edge of society”.

Employees are also a high priority, no matter what level. After a record turn over last year of £87.2 million, there was a bonus pool of £1.28 million for staff. Everybody receives the same portion — pro rata for new arrivals and part-timers — regardless of seniority, recognising the importance of all staff in producing the record financial results.

Sandy Boyle, HR director, said: “We’re delighted to feature in the list for a record 14th year in a row. We understand how vital it is that our employees are engaged, that their contribution is valued and they have opportunities to develop and grow, not only in terms of their role but personally as well.

“We work hard to create an environment where our people are able to do their best work and want to stay with us for the long term. This ensures colleagues find their role rewarding and our clients receive outstanding service.”

The firm has also just been awarded the Investors in People Gold Award standard for the first time and was ranked joint fourth in Roll on Friday’s Firm of the Year award and number two on their list of best-managed firms.
