Mills & Reeve named as STEP Platinum Employer Partner

We have been accredited as a Platinum STEP Employer Partner by the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning.

Choosing a law firm to advise on your private matters is always an important decision – you need to know that its lawyers have the correct technical knowledge and will explain the law in plain language. The STEP Employer Partnership is an accreditation scheme that demonstrates a firm’s commitment to its staff, their learning and development and their desire to provide the best service to clients. It’s an industry benchmark for training lawyers and ensuring they have the most up-to-date knowledge.

Virginia Edgecombe, Partner at Mills & Reeve said: “We are really excited to receive this accreditation as it reflects our genuine commitment to the continued professional development of our people and being awarded Platinum status puts us amongst the best in the country. Investing in high quality training for our people, including the STEP exams, regular updates, training courses and a knowledge-sharing platform, means that we can offer our clients the very best advice based on the latest developments in the sector.”

The Mills & Reeve team helps clients, both UK based and international, plan for their future on a wide range of issues including asset protection and tax planning, succession matters for family businesses and landed estates, and also philanthropy.

Full STEP members, known as TEPs, are internationally recognised as experts in their field, with proven qualifications and experience. Mills & Reeve has 25 lawyers with full TEP qualifications with some holding STEP Advanced Certificates in specific areas with a further eight people working towards their final exams.

Laura Keith, Programme Manager at STEP said: “Mills & Reeve is a strong Platinum Partner. The firm is doing some excellent things to support staff through qualifications and beyond. It is no surprise that it was named the Best trainer – National/large regional firm at the LawCareers.Net Training & Recruitment Awards. What is very clear is that despite being geographically spread across seven offices in the UK it has a real joined-up approach utilising online learning tools to maximise productivity and collaboration.”
