Mills & Reeve ranks 2nd in The Times' Best Law Firms 2019

The Times has launched its inaugural Best Law Firms guide and we are delighted to have been ranked second by our peers.

The 200 law firms listed are entirely peer-selected and based on a simple question: other than your own firm, which practice would you instruct in this area of work?

We have won recognition among our peers for outstanding work across a wide range of legal activities, being commended in this survey in 14 specialisms; only one firm has exceeded this total.

We were commended for administrative & public law, banking & finance, commercial dispute resolution, commercial property, company & commercial, education, employment, energy & renewables, family, insurance, mergers & acquisitions, planning, professional negligence and technology, media & telecoms.

Statista carried out the research earlier this year. It contacted more than 20,000 solicitors in England and Wales, and hundreds of clients, and asked them to recommend the best law firms in any of 31 categories covering business, public and private-client fields.

Respondents were not allowed to recommend their own law firm, and there was technology and other scrutiny in place to prevent multiple voting. Out of England and Wales’s 10,000-plus law firms, more than 500 received commendations, and the ones with the most votes made it into The Times Best Law Firms 2019.

This award is the perfect complement to our ranking in The Sunday Times’ Best 100 Companies to Work For list for the 15th year running. Mills & Reeve is the only law firm and one of a handful of companies to have secured a place for 15 years running on the prestigious list, seen by many as the most comprehensive analysis of workplace engagement, opinion and satisfaction in the UK. The Sunday Times quoted the firm as “…the model of a modern major law firm, dedicated to new thinking and expansion."
