Real estate team advises on new £16m entertainment destination

Our real estate team has advised Freight Island on a new 60,000sq ft entertainment complex in Newcastle.

Freight Island launched a similar site in Manchester five years ago, which they believe has already contributed over £30 million to the local economy.

With a combined investment of £16 million, the new Newcastle venue will become the largest food, drink and entertainment site in any UK city centre. This landmark development will also boost the local economy by creating hundreds of new jobs.

Our real estate team, led by principal associate Graham Collier, advised Freight Island on this project, with additional support from our food and beverage sector specialists.

Graham commented: “We’re absolutely delighted to have advised Freight Island on their hugely exciting expansion into Newcastle. As one of the biggest and best venues in Manchester, with some fabulous food, Newcastle is in for a real treat!

“This is a landmark scheme that will have a huge impact on the entertainment offering at Eldon Square and I'm really pleased that our food and beverage and leisure teams could help bring it to life.”

Dan Morris, co-founder and managing director of Freight Island, said: “This venue has been designed with scale, prominence, and long-term investment in mind. We hope to replicate the huge success of Freight Island in Manchester, where it has already contributed over £30 million to the local economy.

“Freight Island Newcastle will take inspiration from some of the world’s leading social and entertainment spaces, and the venue will bring a mix of cultural and immersive experiences to Newcastle, including everything from kids’ raves and Michelin-star level dining to live performances and some late-night parties.”
