What can I do for you
Carol is a partner in the pensions team with over 25 years' experience advising employers and trustees on all aspects of their pension arrangements in both the private and public sectors. Her recent work includes bulk annuity or risk transfer transactions (where pension scheme liabilities are transferred to an insurer), benefit changes (including scheme closures), member complaints, corporate transactions, and the pensions aspects of university restructurings. She has particular experience in the education sector.
Supporting your ambitions
Carol has a history of supporting long standing clients, having acted for some trustee clients for nearly 20 years. She really enjoys working with her trustee and employer clients to help them deliver their projects (whether it be a benefit design change or a risk transfer transaction) and long term goals. Carol has a wealth of experience in bulk annuity transactions of all shapes and sizes, gained over a sustained period of time (she advised on one of the first all risk transactions over 16 years ago). This depth of experience helps her to guide clients through these transactions and achieve buy-out within timescales and on budget.
With a dedicated focus on the education sector, Carol advises a number of further and higher education institutions on the pensions aspects of their strategic plans, with specific expertise on the Universities Superannuation Scheme, the Teachers' Pension Scheme and the Local Government Pension Scheme. In particular, Carol recently advised on the merger of the University of Greenwich and the University of Kent to establish the UK’s first “super-university”.
What do others say
An professional trustee recently said "It has been a pleasure to work with you over a relatively short period – You have provided an excellent service for the Trustees since taking on the role and, in particular, in providing the required legal advice for the buy-in within tight timescales."
What else should you know
After 20 years of living in London, Carol now lives in Bath with her family and loves spending time in the Somerset countryside. When she is not standing on the sides of a sports pitch supporting her children, she enjoys running or watching Bath RFC play.
