Spectrum development award

LGBTQ+ people are underrepresented in the legal profession, and one of our key diversity and inclusion targets is to address this at Mills & Reeve.

Our development award is delivered through our employee networks and offers a university student a week-long work experience placement, a £1,000 bursary, and mentoring from a lawyer at the firm. To date, the award has been hosted by our race, ethnicity and cultural heritage network and our disability network. Over the next two years, it will be hosted by Spectrum, our LGBTQ+ network, and we look forward to welcoming an LGBTQ+ student.

We are excited to be partnering with The Proud Trust for this award which is a life changing charity that supports LGBTQ+ young people and the adults in their lives, through providing youth groups, mentoring, a live chat service and LGBTQ+ awareness training.

Eligibility:

1st or 2nd year university student with a keen interest in law

Based near one of our regional offices – Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Norwich, Oxford, Cambridge or London

Identify as being LGBTQ+

Our Spectrum network

Spectrum is our LGBT+ network and provides support to LGBT+ people in all their diversity, including those from all ethnicities, faiths, beliefs, disabilities, genders, genders identities, sexes, sexual orientations, ages and backgrounds. Membership of Spectrum is open to anyone at the firm who would like to support the network's aims, regardless of whether they identify as LGBT+, a definition which includes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
