People Matter: Managing sickness absence
Our next in-person workshop is designed to provide practical guidance and interactive learning on the challenges of managing sickness absence in the workplace.
The session includes a short presentation, followed by an interactive workshop focusing on case studies and real-world scenarios covering themes including:
Approaches to managing persistent or repeated short-term absence, including identifying patterns and understanding routes to fair dismissal
Handling long-term health issues, such as occupational health referrals, obtaining medical records and navigating consent
Health and safety considerations, including when medical suspension on full pay may be appropriate if there is disagreement over fit notes
A “reasonable adjustment” quiz, featuring real case law examples to test your knowledge and spark discussion
