Mills & Reeve’s recent all staff survey reveals excellent levels of employee engagement and staff satisfaction.
Highlights include:
- 97% of people would recommend Mills & Reeve to a friend as a good place to work
- 92% agree there is an inclusive and diverse culture
- 90% are satisfied with their current role
- 87% are happy with their work life balance
The biennial survey asks staff to anonymously provide their honest opinions of working at the firm, and the response rate of 76% represents a strong engagement from employees across all parts of the business.
Mills & Reeve’s client centric approach was borne out in the results with 85% agreeing there was a culture of putting clients at the heart of everything the firm does.
As a result of investment in technology in recent years, Mills & Reeve has seen a significant increase in positivity around IT systems, up 15 points to 75% from the last survey. This aligns with the firm's strategic aim to ‘drive success through technology’.
People particularly appreciate the levels of autonomy they’re given, and scores for line manager performance have improved to the highest ever, reflecting a recent focus on personal development.
The survey comes on the back of refreshing their firm values, with 92% of colleagues believing that Mills & Reeve is very good at living the value of being ambitious in how we act and behave, and 96% believing that the firm cares about its clients and people. The other two values relating to being collaborative and open scored 91% and 85% respectively.
When asked to list the best things about working at Mills & Reeve, as has often been highlighted in previous surveys, 77% of respondents praised their team or the people they work with. Meanwhile, 60% cited how the firm works as a key highlight, with 50% emphasising culture as a key differentiator.

The responses help shape our strategic direction and help us to continue to drive forward our key aim to be a leader in people experience. Creating high performing, diverse, inclusive and collaborative teams is vital to our growth, and understanding our people helps us to achieve this.”
These results reflect several successes in recent years, including being awarded Platinum Investors in People in 2023, being ranked in the Sunday Times’ Best Places to Work list for the last two years, having previously being ranked in the Best Companies to Work for list for 20 years, and regular placement as one of RollOnFriday’s Best Firms to Work At, including taking the top spot three times in a row.
