Alex Round

Principal Associate

What can I do for you

Alex is a principal associate in the planning team based in London. He acts for developers, landowners and local authorities on some of the largest and most complex strategic developments in the country.

Supporting your ambitions

Alex has particular experience in negotiating highly complex s106 agreements and providing strategic planning advice for major new settlements and commercial development. Recent projects include:

  • Grange Farm (Alconbury) - delivery of a further 1,500 new homes at Urban&Civic's exemplar new settlement, Alconbury Weald. Alex has been advising U&C for over a decade, and in particular at Alconbury (6,500 new homes), Waterbeach (6,500 new homes) and Wintringham (2,800 new homes).
  • District East - 1,000,000+ sqft of new commercial / R&D floorspace south of Coldham’s Lane, Cambridge, as part of Mission Street’s new urban innovation district
  • University of East London - 650 units of student accommodation and 280,000 sqft of new academic facilities as part of extensive redevelopment of UEL’s Stratford campus.

What do others say

“The effective and detailed way in which Alex managed the legal planning process on Grange Farm (particularly the s.106 negotiations) reflected and fully endorsed the trust and support everyone at U&C has for him. It was a complex multi-party/element consent which built upon one of our original consents. Alex’s detailed knowledge of the history and various stakeholders were key to the success of the project”

James Scott – Urban&Civic

“His legal advice and overall stewardship of the planning elements of the project have been exemplary. More than just providing technical advice, he consistently engaged with me and my team in a strategic way that added real commercial value to the project.”

Stewart Kain - Mission Street

What our clients say about us

  • I think Mills & Reeve are a wonderful firm. The support they have provided to us in a really difficult area has been brilliant, collaborative and commercially minded. The team were absolutely wonderful and a joy to work with. Amazing advice and support and a real collaborative effort with us. I can't thank them enough for getting us through some really tough times and doing so with an amazing can-do attitude.
  • They are friendly, fast, always available and always on top of the game. I tend to judge my legal team against the other side's legal team and never doubt Mills & Reeve is the better of the two.
  • All interactions have been very clear. Responses to questions have always been very swift and unambiguous. Our company, and my family, have used various services in Mills & Reeve with the same level of satisfaction.
  • I value the fact that Mills & Reeve are recognised as a good place to work in the UK Best Companies survey. This aligns with the values of our business and means that Mills & Reeve can share what is required to achieve this status with our business.

As many clients will testify, too many lawyers deliver the required legal expertise but fail to deliver an outstanding client experience. Which is why we always listen to our clients and constantly ask ourselves what we can do to deliver the results you expect.

You expect a close and attentive working relationship, with a lawyer that is responsive and available when you need them.
