Andrew is a leading London Market insurance, reinsurance and commercial disputes lawyer and heads our specialty insurance team. He has represented clients for more than 25 years, in over 30 countries. His insurance specialisms include:

Andrew was co author of War Risks & Terrorism (Insurance Institute of London, 2007).

With long and broad experience in the London insurance Market, at leading firms, Andrew has an excellent understanding not only of the law but also of the market's unique traditions, quirks, and relationships.

Andrew is a recognised leader in the field of political violence insurance. He acted for the successful reinsurers in Hamilton v Afghan Global, Anham and ors[2024] EWHC 1426 the first ever standalone political violence policy dispute to come before the English courts.

He is known by his clients for giving concise, clear, frank, and straightforward advice. Clients are represented robustly in litigation or arbitration where necessary, and/or in mediation where appropriate.

Andrew advises on all kinds of commercial disputes, both domestically and internationally.

Andrew trained and practised originally as a barrister, and now practises as a solicitor-advocate.

Andrew is Chairman Emeritus of Lloyd's Flyfishing Society. He enjoys tennis and walking his cocker spaniel in the countryside.

Andrew has a BA Russian & East European History at UCL's School of Slavonic & E. European Studies, MA in Modern History at UCL, and studied Russian language and culture at St Petersburg University, Russia in the 1990s before training as a barrister.
