Helen has approaching 35 years of market leading experience advising (re)insurers, Friendly Societies and Syndicates on insurance coverage for a wide range of life/protection and general insurance products. Originally from a dispute resolution background, Helen’s practice has broadened to being a ‘cradle to grave’ advisory service, extending from insurance product development and drafting (taking into account medical advancements), drafting reinsurance treaties, compliance & regulatory issues, fraud prevention and detection as well as data protection risk issues.

By engaging closely with the market and regularly contributing to a range of committees and forums, Helen is able to keep abreast of emerging trends and bring broad legal insight to help achieve solutions for her clients.
Helen works as a team with her clients, who range in size. Some have their own in-house legal resource, and welcome Helen’s specialist input particularly where complex, technical or sensitive issues arise.
Helen’s expertise assists her clients to reach fair negotiated resolution of disputes. But she can also strategically and thoroughly prepare a case through to trial.
Helen regularly presents at insurance industry events, and can provide in-house training for clients’ claims and underwriting teams.
Additional Information
Helen is passionate about fraud detection and prevention and for over 20 years has been the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for her law firm at the Insurance Fraud Investigators Group (IFIG).
For over 5 years, Helen has attended the International Underwriting Association’s Personal Accident and Health Underwriting Group and the IUA’s Contingency & Personal Accident and Health Claims Committee.

What else should you know
Helen volunteers at harvest time at a local vineyard and holds Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualifications. Flower arranging is another hobby for relaxation, and she was thrilled to be awarded a Royal Horticulture Society bronze medal at her annual village show. Weekends are spent watching her sons play Club rugby and cricket.
