What can Jacob do for you?

Jacob specialises in disputes arising from the affairs of insolvent companies and individuals. His work typically includes both bringing and defending claims to recover assets for the benefit of creditors under the Insolvency Act 1986.

Jacob has also acted on a wide range of commercial disputes including contractual disputes, partnership/shareholder disputes and action in defamation.

Supporting your ambitions

As a contentious insolvency lawyer, Jacob takes a pragmatic approach to every case, acknowledging that the commercial realities of a situation must be considered alongside the legal position.

A highlight for Jacob was acting for a claimant against a particularly difficult company director, in a claim in debt and for breach of director’s duties, with the objective (amongst others) of recovering a significant overdrawn director’s loan. Following a four-day trial in the High Court the claim was successful, and a charging order was obtained against the director’s residential property pending payment of the judgment debt and costs.

What do others say?

Jacob recently achieved an advantageous early settlement for a corporate claimant following a single letter of claim. The client said that Jacob’s “frank and honest advice was a breath of fresh air”.

What else should you know?

Jacob won a number of awards for academic excellence whilst at Manchester Law School, including the Dean’s Award for Best Performing Student on the Graduate Diploma in Law.

He is particularly proud of his pro-bono work for victims of the Manchester Arena attack.
