James is a healthcare lawyer specialising in Mental Capacity Act issues. He is instructed by various ICBs, NHS trusts and other organisations in relation to a wide range of healthcare matters. He advises clients in Court of Protection matters concerning mental capacity, best interests, deprivations of liberty, and hospital discharges. He also represents acute trusts in serious medical treatment cases in the Court of Protection and High Court.

James seeks to use a pragmatic and conciliatory approach to collaborate effectively with clients and other parties to identify satisfactory solutions in cases, usually in the Court of Protection, that are often highly contentious matters involving complex legal and emotional challenges.
