I lead Mills & Reeve's environmental law practice. I advise government bodies, charities, educational institutions, businesses and individuals as to how environmental law applies to them, what it requires them to do, how best to comply with those requirements, the risks of non-compliance and how best to respond if it is alleged that they have not complied.
Supporting your ambitions
I successfully acted on behalf of a waste operator in an appeal against a notice served by the Environment Agency to revoke its site permit, which would have forced the business to close and led to the redundancy of its employees. This was one of only three cases where a revocation notice has been overturned.
I regularly advise landowners, investors and developers on potential liabilities associated with contaminated land and am one of the few lawyers in the country with first hand experience of successfully appealing against remediation notices under the statutory contaminated land regime.
