Procurement update: new PPN in force, and making the most of social value

Charities that supply services to public sector bodies, as well as those that find themselves subject to the procurement rules, should be aware that PPN 07/20, which relates to taking account of a bidder’s approach to payment in the procurement of major contracts, is now in force.

The new PPN applies where a public contract is procured where the contract value is over £5 million per year excluding VAT, or, where a framework agreement or DPS is procured, where it is anticipated that the individual value of any call-off contract will be over £5 million per year.

It puts in place a higher standard bidders must reach to demonstrate they have effective payment systems, and also provides clarification around how the PPN applies to framework agreements.

For more on the new PPN, as well as actions for authorities and bidders to take, head over to the Procurement Portal.

Finally, when it comes to social value, do you know how to address social value elements in the design of your charity’s procurements, or do you want to know how to secure maximum credit for your charity’s social value offering in tenders to public bodies?

If so, you may wish to attend our free bite-size webinar on making the most of social value in public procurement on 29 April. Please click here for more information, and / or to register for the event.
