The 1 July 2011 saw the coming into force of the Bribery Act 2010. With businesses increasingly working in multi jurisdictions and across borders the UK has worked with key partners including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the European Union, the Council of Europe and the United Nations. The aim has been to standardise anti-corruption measures and improve transparency and accountability.
The Act has fairly far reaching consequences and will impact on activities such as corporate hospitality. In the run up to the London 2012 Olympics companies will have to think carefully about the way they offer and indeed accept invitations.
As many companies consider their options why not grab a copy of Mills & Reeve’s Summer edition of Building Blocks and read in greater detail about how the Act may affect you and your company.
