The JCT has announced that it will be producing a JCT 2024 suite of contracts.
Some of the major changes from the 2016 edition include:
- gender neutral language
- the use of electronic notices
- updates to termination and payment provisions
- updates to take into account the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020
- changes which will 'reflect the objectives of the Construction Playbook'
- incorporation of provisions that are optional in the 2016 suite relating to collaborative working, sustainable development and environmental considerations
- a new contract - the JCT Target Cost Contract
