The EU's new medical devices regime for general medical devices (Regulation (EU) 2017/745) was due to take effect on 26 May this year.
The EU Commission has announced that it is working on a proposal to delay this date for one year in the light of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 crisis, citing patient health and safety as a guiding principle. A proposal will be submitted to the EU Parliament and Council in early April with a view to achieving rapid agreement.
