Alexandra is a solicitor specialising in construction and engineering law. She advises on all the whole lifecycle of a construction project.

This includes:

  • Advising on procurement strategy to ensure that projects are set up taking into account client's aims and appetite for risk
  • Drafting and negotiating construction contracts, appointments and collateral documents, including all standard forms of construction contract
  • Advising on construction disputes, which includes managing tricky issues as they arise to minimise the risk of disputes
  • Alternative dispute resolution via mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation

  • Representing a local authority defending a £40m claim by a national contractor via adjudication, and successfully defending the positive adjudication decision through arbitration 

  • Advising on contractor and consultant frameworks for a public sector client to deliver over £1bn of works

  • Part of the successful team in the Supreme Court case of Aspect Contracts (Asbestos) Ltd v Higgins Construction plc regarding the limitation period for claims for repayment of adjudication awards 

  • Advising a Trust on the procurement of a contractor for a £170m new hospital using the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract and a pre-construction agreement based on the NEC4 Professional Services Contract

  • Representing the successful contractor in Mears Ltd v Costplan Services (South East) Ltd, regarding the meaning of practical completion under a building contract
