For charities that have used the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme to furlough workers during the pandemic, the furlough scheme has provided welcome and significant financial support - although the evolving guidance may have caused some additional headaches.

It is clear that many charity employees have been furloughed under the scheme – it has recently been reported that the largest twenty charities alone have furloughed over 20,000 employees – and, as the mid-point of the scheme is now reached, charities should be looking ahead and planning for some of the problems that may arise immediately after lockdown is ended, as well as the longer term issues.
