Little did either Robert Weatherley or I anticipate how much shopping would change in such a short period of time when Robert blogged “Shopping isn’t what it used to be”.
While the High Street was already changing, the pace at which it would shut down in March and the speed with which shoppers would turn to the internet was beyond the wildest predictions. Almost certainly the COVID-19 pandemic will change our shopping habits forever. What this will mean is that the construction of distribution warehouses (and the installation of the equipment within them) will grow with ever increasing speed.
With that in mind, we continue with our series of blogs on MF/1. This one comments on the definitions section at clause 1.1. There are a number of standard definitions – 39 in total - some of them refer to concepts that are, understandably, engineering focused. There is an Engineer; there are Performance Tests, a Taking-Over Certificate and Tests on Completion. Many of the definitions clauses are not actually set out in clause 1.1 but refer to other sub-clauses of the conditions. For instance Force Majeure refers to sub-clause 46.1 and Termination Value refers to sub-clause 49.2.
Our next blog will concentrate on the Engineer duties.
