In our latest review of the year we have made a selection of Mills & Reeve’s employment-related content from 2025.
The past year has been dominated by the Employment Rights Bill, which finally received Royal Assent on 18 December. But there have also been other significant developments. These included a ruling from the Court of Appeal about a worker’s expression of gender-critical beliefs, and some important new case law on unfair dismissal.
2026 will no doubt produce some more important decisions from the courts. But employers’ attention will be primarily focused on the implementation of the Employment Rights Act, which starts in earnest on 17 February, with more groups of measures due to take effect on 6 April and 1 October 2026.
