A reminder of the function of a coroner's court

The High Court’s decision in Lee v Assistant Coroner for County Durham and Chief Constable of Durham concerns an application to bring judicial review proceedings challenging the conduct of this non-Article 2 inquest. Whilst not a binding authority, the comments of the judge when refusing permission to apply for judicial review are illuminating, as Bridget Dolan QC of Serjeants’ Inn explains in her latest post, Coroners are not a one stop Human Rights Court.
