The Government published its consultation on the Building Safety Levy on 21 July and follows earlier proposals on a 'cladding levy'.
The consultation is based on the levy applying "to developments in England seeking building control approval from the Building Safety Regulator, unless otherwise excluded. The proposed new regime applies to new high-rise residential buildings, care homes, and hospitals which are 18 metres or more in height, or at least seven storeys”.
The Government is consulting on whether hospitals should be excluded from the levy although it looks like it is intended to apply to care homes.
