Subrogated recoveries

Subrogated recoveries are key to improving your team’s financial performance. We can help you achieve that.

We have a proven track record of successfully recovering our client’s losses. We offer a range of pricing options to suit our clients’ needs, which include reviewing the papers and advising on prospects of success for a fixed fee. Our subrogation team members have a significant number of years’ experience between them advising on recoveries relating to residential premises, commercial premises and construction all risks. We work with you as a team and offer pragmatic and commercial legal advice, involving the policyholder to ensure that the relationship between policyholder and insurer is not affected.

Our experience

  • Successful recovery of a significant sum of money following a fire caused by a washing machine. The forensic evidence was not supportive of the recovery but by applying the appropriate commercial pressures, we secured a recovery of more than 80%.
  • After a pipe serving the policyholder’s basement swimming pool ruptured causing significant damage to the basement and its high value contents, we successfully recovered a significant amount of our client’s losses from the swimming pool contractor.
  • Successful recovery from the Environment Agency after a flood caused significant damage to property at a holiday park.
  • We recovered nearly 75% of our client’s losses from a gas engineer after works to replace gas pipes at a property caused a fire. The successful recovery was made all the more challenging because the three companies involved in the works, including the gas supplier, all sought to blame each other.
  • A fire in the ductwork in a kitchen at a conference centre caused significant damage and interruption to the business. We successfully negotiated a recovery from both the cleaning contractor for the cause of the fire and the contractor who installed the ductwork, the latter’s negligent construction allowing the fire to cause more damage than it otherwise should have.
