Technology disputes

We act on behalf of insurers of technology businesses to protect their insureds when claims arise. We have the expertise and resource to defend the largest, most complex disputes.

We understand the potentially devastating impact that even small claims can have on technology start-ups and SMEs, and we have a wealth of experience on which to draw to help minimise that impact.

We defend claims arising from allegations of failure to meet contractual obligations through to disputes involving alleged intellectual property infringement.

We combine our insurance expertise with resource and experience from our leading information technology and intellectual property practices, which advise some of the UK’s most successful technology businesses.

Our team is regularly instructed to advise and represent insurers in relation to policy coverage.

Our lawyers

Our technology disputes lawyers have access to specialists in IT contracts, data protection issues and the protection of intellectual property rights.

Our experience

  • Defending a leading digital marketing agency on a claim that it failed to successfully deliver an online marketing campaign.
  • Acting for the providers of electronic card payment hardware to a national chain of pubs where the failure of the hardware was alleged to have caused substantial losses and replacement costs.
  • Defending a website designer against a claim by a well-known clothing retailer which alleged that the designer had created an interface that allowed goods to be dispatched without payments being taken.
  • Defending a claim against a medical software provider relating to allegations that its software had malfunctioned, contributing to the death of a patient.
  • Advising insurers on coverage in connection to a multi-million dollar claim made against an IT company for alleged breaches of contract arising from the provision of IT outsourcing hardware and software.
