Our experience

  • We have advised farmers, landed estate owners, major farming businesses and landowning colleges for decades and advised agribusinesses on all aspects of complex agricultural transactions. We also acted for entrepreneurs leading fast-growth technology start-ups and spin outs through to IPO.
  • Advised one of the top research universities on blueberry varieties licensing in the UK and EU – we gave two rounds of advice relating to competition law and plant variety licences, first of which was used as an example for other plant breeders affected by changes in membership of the EU and their licensing issues.
  • Advised an agriculture, ground care and forestry specialist with numerous repeat advice and defence of infringement claims on IP issues related to supply of agricultural machinery parts, covering patent, trade mark, registered and unregistered design right issues, and giving a good understanding of the use of soil machinery, especially sub-soil equipment in agribusiness.
  • Advised a US business on purchase of a UK business with software for providing sustainability analysis and reports to UK farmers.
  • Experience in advising Sipcam on patent infringement proceedings brought by BASF in respect of microencapsulated herbicidal compositions for treatment of Black Rye Grass.
  • Advising on patentability of specially designed potato boxes.
