What can Sarah do for you?
Sarah is a Principal Associate in our leading healthcare team, specialising in contentious healthcare matters. Her work includes supporting clients with a range of issues relating to mental health and mental capacity and providing support and representation at inquests. Sarah has significant experience of health and social care regulation and also undertakes disease litigation (including asbestos related claims).
Supporting your ambitions
Inquests into patient deaths can be difficult, both for the family and also for the healthcare professionals involved. Witnesses can face challenging questioning and inquests often attract media coverage, which can be potentially damaging to the client's reputation. In addition to undertaking the advocacy at the hearing, Sarah therefore works closely and collaboratively with clients to ensure that staff called as witnesses feel supported and prepared and that any risk issues for the client organisation have been identified prior to the hearing, with evidence provided to the coroner of the remedial measures taken.
What do others say?
Sarah recently supported a healthcare client with a challenging inquest that had received significant media interest and they wrote following the hearing to say "Thank you for all your support with this. I'm sure if we weren't all so well prepared by you then it would have been much more difficult."
What else should you know?
Sarah has a particular interest in mental health law and enjoys regularly presenting at seminars and client training events on this fascinating area of law.
